Fables and Crumbs: The Wealthy Feast | Haunting indy pop
I jotted down the idea for this in exasperation of how things in the world seemed so strange and out of control to me...
This is a video I created after having some thoughts on the craziness of the world today. I used ChatGPT, Suno, Luma, DreamStudio, and OpenShot to create this.
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
So I've won the lottery, in a new land,
Left the old job, never thought I'd stand.
In this new country, I'm the chosen one,
I'm the lucky one, oh, I'm the lucky one.
Before I dive in, I realize,
Positivity's the key, a grand disguise.
Don't think too much about the path I tread,
Just let the words flow, don't let them in my head.
[Chorus]
Don't listen to the words, just nod to the beat,
Don't need to believe, just follow the heat.
As the dollars pile higher, I begin to see,
Richer in wealth, but poorer in me.
Friendships fade, but the dollars rise,
How many millions justify the lies?
[Verse 2]
With every dollar, the spirit wanes,
As riches grow, the meaning drains.
Stocks and bonds in portfolios swell,
Real estate in places where the wealthy dwell.
Rare wines stored in cellars deep,
Precious metals in vaults I keep.
Yet in the darkness, love remains,
Warm embraces ease the pain.
[Chorus]
Don't listen to the words, just nod to the beat,
Don't need to believe, just follow the heat.
As the dollars pile higher, I begin to see,
Richer in wealth, but poorer in me.
Friendships fade, but the dollars rise,
How many millions justify the lies?
[Bridge]
Positivity's the key, a grand disguise,
Hiding the emptiness behind my eyes.
The more I gain, the more I lose,
Trapped in a cycle, I didn't choose.
I push on, eyes on the prize,
But the cost is heavy, I realize.
Each step forward, a piece of me lost,
Chasing dreams, but at what cost?
The pile of dollars grows so tall,
But echoes in my heart, an empty hall.
When will enough be enough, I wonder,
How many millions will tear me asunder?
[Verse 3]
The glitter fades, the truth sets in,
All these riches, but where's the win?
The love I had now feels so far,
Traded my soul for a shooting star.
Is the love I find now bought or real?
Can it heal the emptiness I feel?
Memories of laughter, now just a haze,
Caught in this endless, hollow maze.
[Chorus]
Don't listen to the words, just nod to the beat,
Don't need to believe, just follow the heat.
As the dollars pile higher, I begin to see,
Richer in wealth, but poorer in me.
Friendships fade, but the dollars rise,
How many millions justify the lies?
[Outro]
So I've won the lottery, in a new land,
Left the old job, never thought I'd stand.
In this new country, I'm the chosen one,
But as the dollars rise, my spirit's undone.
How many millions will justify the loss?
How many millions until I see the cost?
Is the love I find now bought or real?
Can it heal the emptiness I feel?
