Exposed: The fraud of global temperatures going back to 1880

Hey everyone. Steve Milloy here. Climate hoaxers like to use global temperature graphs, like this one from NASA, purporting to show global temperature since 1880. Do climate hoaxers really know what the global temperature was in 1880? I made a video the other day, which is linked to in this post, explaining why global temperature is physically and scientifically meaningless in the first place.

But for the sake of showing just how dishonest climate hoaxers are, let’s assume that calculating global temperature by averaging surface station temperature measurements makes sense. Let’s look at the surface station network in 1880.

According to NASA, there were 806 surface stations in 1880 and they were scattered around the globe as shown in these images. The top image is the Northern Hemisphere and the bottom image is the Southern Hemisphere. Don’t be deceived by the size of the orange dots. They are much larger than the actual area covered by the thermometer each represents. In any event and as you can see, a massive amount of the Earth’s surface is simply not covered. It’s just not credible to calculate a global temperature for 1880 based on this distribution of temperature stations.

Even if those 806 stations had been scattered evenly around the Earth, it would mean there would be one thermometer covering every 243,000 square miles of the Earth’s surface. How large an area is 243,000 square miles? It’s almost the size of Texas. Imagine a global temperature record based on a single thermometer per each 492-mile-long-by-492-mile-wide section of the Earth’s surface. It’s ridiculous.
