A year in a human's life is not the same as a year in a dog's life. You might have thought that dogs age seven times faster than humans, but it's not that simple. A dog that has lived for one year is actually already 31 years old. It could very well have its own little puppies. And then things get complicated. Two human years do not mean that a dog is already 62. It will take several more years before a dog reaches a respectable age. A four-year-old dog is about 50 years old, a seven-year-old is 62, and an eight-year-old is only 64. Thus, dogs mature faster, but then that process slows down.
