Acts 3:1-26, Sins May be Blotted Out So that Times of Refreshing May Come
Following the birth of the Church in Acts 2, God continues to pour out His spirit upon His disciples, authenticating their authority as His witnesses by imbuing them with the power to perform miracles and preach with boldness. In today’s passage, Peter, in the name of Jesus, heals the lame man at the Beautiful Gate to the temple. As the people marvel, Peter glorifies God and then points the people to the prophetic Scriptures that prove that Jesus was the prophesied Messiah, exhorting them to “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19 NKJV).
