The Oklahoma Second Amendment Association (OK2A) Does a 180 on Tim Harper

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, the second day of Constitutional Carry in Oklahoma, Mr. Timothy Harper took an AR-15 rifle into a Twin Peaks restaurant in Oklahoma City.

Despite there no longer being a licensing requirement to carry firearms in public, the law still stipulated that no other offensive weapons except for a handgun carried by a person with a handgun license could be taken into a place licensed to dispense alcohol as a non-primary activity (i.e. a restaurant that serves alcohol).

Soon after this incident, photos and videos of Mr. Harper began going "viral" on the internet and because of this attention, the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association released a statement (https://www.facebook.com/ok2aassociation/photos/a.10150298490542047/10156290591657047) expelling and disavowing Mr. Harper.

Because of his presence in the Twin Peaks restaurant with the rifle, he was arrested on Tuesday, November 12 by Oklahoma City Police officers posing as journalists who wanted to interview Mr. Harper.
(He had been followed for most of the day on the 1st and 2nd of November by a film crew for HBO's VICE News).

Throughout this time, OK2A President Don Spencer and Robert Robles, US LawShield's lead attorney for the state of Oklahoma, had been insisting that, although they disagreed with Mr. Harper's actions, no law had actually been broken because Mr. Harper did not refuse to leave Twin Peaks when asked to do so.

This continued up until Friday, the 15th of November and Mr. Harper's bond reduction hearing - his bond had previously been set at $100,000...CASH ONLY.

After the hearing, Mr. Spencer issued a video statement once again asserting his believe that Mr. Harper had not broken any laws.

Fast forward to the following Tuesday, November 19 and the monthly OK2A meeting in Oklahoma City, when both Mr. Spencer and Mr. Robles both stated unequivocally that Mr. Harper had in fact broken the law and had committed a felony act.
