A Princess of Mars - By Edgar Rice Burroughs - Episode 1 - Forward and Chapter 1

Ok, today we begin a new journey. Today we begin exploring one of the oldest (to my knowledge) HFY stories - the world of Barsoom, by Edgar Rice Burroughs...beginning with "A Princess of Mars". If audience reaction is favorable, I will continue this story; possibly continue the series, or perhaps explore other works :) Let me know what you think.

It is the year 1885, and defeated Confederate Officer John (Jack) Carter of Virginia has gone to Arizona to prospect for gold to help rebuild his destroyed fortunes. Strange events will unfold there which will ultimately pitch him into the midst of another war...this one on another planet...and will earn him the undying love of an alien princess.
