Now, just days later, markets are no longer plunging, those who called for emergency action are silent, and media outlets like CNBC claim, "the U.S. economy is remarkably strong even amid persistent inflation and high interest rates." In fact, if you think we're in a recession, CNBC says you think wrongly, harbor false beliefs, and suffer from a "growing disconnect."
