Chinese leader Xi Jinping is using his anti-corruption campaign as less of a way to eliminate corruption but to strengthen the political reliability of the PLA and has re-introduced the role of the political officer to in further pursuit of that goal despite potentially compromising the PLA’s effectiveness with peer adversaries.
