I have read MUCH that has been written by people who decipher poetry, however, I will not include any of their meanderings here. This poem says what it says. It's really not hard to undersand. All of us, have, at some time or another in our lives, been able to identify with Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem, even if the lyric does not conform exactly to what has been experienced by us. An active and imaginative mind will bring it all into play and such times will indeed find that the narrative has indeed happened in each of our lives in some way or another.

Composer Francisco de Asís Tárrega y Eixea (21 November 1852 - 15 December 1909) was an influential Spanish composer and guitarist of the Romantic period.
