Has much really changed about election integrity and security?

I talked about this years ago, but it seems nothing much has changed in the industry itself. There are open source tools that offer transparency and ledgers for digital voting, but it doesn't change how much things may not have changed over the last few years. With either side claiming insecure and secure elections depending on convenience, is our digital security up to snuff such that we can blame people?
