Today's Terrible Judge: Craig Ortner

Judge #CraigOrtner of #Bronx Criminal Court told NYC brute accused of pummeling 82-year-old woman that she was ‘out of chances’ — then cut her loose anyway last week. #TammieMoore attacked the woman who was exchanging plastic bottles for cash in a #NYC #subway station. Both defense attorneys — Bronx public defender #JohnAdelman for Moore, and #LegalAidSociety attorney #LeanneFornelliPepitone for her alleged accomplice #Ballinger — defended their clients by saying they were each raising four children and it’s not clear what actions they did or didn’t take that day. This, despite the two between them have 18 arrests. “I don’t think it’s entirely clear who did what,” Adelman told #Ortner on behalf of Moore. Ortner seemed to believe this, despite statements from the victim's family, and cut Moore loose.
