A lot of people think we need to preserve our forests by locking them up to protect them from human activity. But locking up the forests is likely doing more harm to the forests. In many cases it is causing more harm than harvesting timber, ensuring the demise of the forest. I take you through a once beautiful old growth ponderosa pine forest. We will see how attempts to preserve that forest are causing it to die while making wildfires much more destructive. The idea of trying to preserve natural forests is no longer in the cards.
