Steele - 4 weeks & 1 day in training with me - 22 Aug 2024

Steele, the 3 yr old blue/bay roan QH gelding, came into training 4 wks and 1 day before this video was taken. Sometime earlier this year he spent 90 days with a different trainer who, the owner says, only rode him outside of the arena twice during those 90 days. This video is to show where he is at right now on a few things (working a gate, backing the L, straddle side pass the L, and overcoming fear of a REAL trail obstacle he had never seen before). Steele still needs more work before I would consider him a well started horse. This video does not show it but we have made serious progress on getting this EXTREMELY right handed horse to take his left lead on cue and hold it. But he needs additional work to get to the point where he reliably takes the left lead on cue EVERY time no matter who is asking him (with the correct cue.) I cannot emphasize enough that in addition to solid foundational training it takes REAL miles actually going somewhere to make a good horse. While in training with me Steele has thus far logged 111.1 road and trail miles - that breaks out as 34 road miles (including more than one ride into the village) and 77.1 trail miles including three Waterloo trail rides. Tomorrow, God willing, will be Steele's fourth ride at Waterloo and will put likely about 11 more trail miles on him.

Remember to intentionally, on purpose, learn of God each day by prayerfully reading, studying, and pondering upon God's word each day. Talk to God in prayer as your Heavenly Father who would like for you to be His friend. Find out what He would like you to do for Him as His friend and go and do it for Him as His friend. Yes very intentionally, very much on purpose, become the friend of God. And have a blessed day!!
