When You Realize

Strugglin’ with who I am, what I stand for,
Livin’ by principles, but life’s a hardcore,
Masked up, feelin’ like I’m in disguise,
Is it really me when I’m lookin’ through these eyes?

Every day, week, year—truth’s in a spiral,
Lies on top of lies, like a never-ending trial.

Four more years, then eight, it’s the same old song,
Remember Pops preachin’, tellin’ me to stay strong.
“Live for the moment, aim high for the skies,
Be a man, make choices, don’t compromise,”
But when you reach the top, that’s when you realize,
Yeah, it’s all just a game. truth’s the surprise.

Pops’ words echo, yeah, they play in my mind,
But these days, it’s hard to find peace, hard to unwind.
Caught in a cycle, always chasin’ the lies,
But deep down, I know, it’s time for me to rise.

Another day, another dollar, but I’m feelin’ broke,
Tryna stay afloat, but it’s all just a joke.
Saw dreams fade away like smoke in the air,
But I keep grindin’, even when it ain’t fair.
Remember when Pops said, “Son, keep your pride,”
But I’m out here hustlin’, with nothin’ to hide.
