Massive Homeless Encampent/Garbage Dump Is Finally Bulldozed In Parker Lands

I had just recently spoke with Fort Garry City Councillor John Orlikows Office and Fort Garry MLA Mark Wasyliws office as well. Advising them that the ongoing situation in Parker Lands is far more than just a dispute between city developers and Gem Equities who has been trying to develop the land for a decade. That during this time as the land sits in turmoil, hoards of homeless people have not just made the area their home but have brought in massive amounts of garbage, had out of control fires and were somehow able to live on private property completely unabated by law enforcement or anyone at all. I told Orlikows office that I wanted to personally go show John the site. Shockingly both offices said they had no idea this was going on. Orlikows office tried to pass the buck onto Gem Equities... How ironic.
Well no more than one week later a bulldozer moved into the area and completely removed the entire encampment and surrounding area. I do not know if law enforcement was needed to remove individuals first.
Coincidence? I think not.
Still no word from either office about wether Gem Equities will finally be able to develop but we will attempt to get in touch with them to find out what we can. As this report does serve as yet another follow up on a story that I have been reporting on since 2016.
