Israeli Chicago Consulate, Interviews with bystanders to Consulate Protest - DNC August 20th, 2024

Following initial demonstration actions including flag burning and police breakups of first round of attacks around Gazan/Hamas demonstrations, several from the residence diagonal to the Israeli Consulate building (Accenture Tower).

Among the residents to come out, several were asked for their takes on the demonstrations as well as the situation of the rhetoric in itself but with the caveat of it being addressed to what would be the 2nd biggest driver for the protests beyond nationality.

Various responses were had when asked, with some admitting to being from outside of Chicago with others taking to being from around the Demonstrators persuasion directly. The proximity to the DNC has drawn many outside of Chicago to the location and thus lead to more differing answers than those presented of the two differing sides.

Along the rest of the event, many police were deployed by the thousands and there were more demonstrators, though not as many as were initially believed within the tens of thousands earlier Muslim/organizing leaders within the Palestine/Intifada communities. This, along with the draw of more careful planning has lead to many outsiders seeing the draw down of the demonstrations as better handled than other demonstrations in the past within the US by Hamas groups.

Outside of the groups of preachers, the other sides were Israeli demonstrators, police, and finally the Intifada protesters whom claimed the war as their reason for outrage and the motivation for various actions including going after police upon being arrested.

This was recorded on 500 W Madison Ave in Chicago, IL on August 20th, 2024. This took place within the second day of the DNC national convention and was the proposed draw for the tens of thousands of projected number of demonstrators prior to what were found to be only around over since 10,000 people.
