Sad Wings Of Destiny served to advance metal more than any record from the previous five years its phenomenal riffs were expertly arranged for maximum effect, and the vocals of The Metal God Rob Halford rewrote the books for operatics within the brutish form. "The Ripper" captured the drama and intelligence of the band all in a succinct couple of minutes, the video and track surging and then laying in wait, history being written literally by a bunch of Birmingham bashers already six years into the heavy metal grind with little to show for it.
