Information warfare (IW) is the use of information and communication technology to gain an advantage over an opponent. It involves actions to deny, exploit, corrupt, or destroy an enemy's information, while protecting one's own information and exploiting the enemy's. IW is different from cyberwarfare, which targets computers, software, and command control systems, while IW targets information itself.
