08.11.24 "Developing the Healing Ability"

In the ego world we have primarily regulated healing to a wiser, highly educated, and self monitoring group of people we call "doctors." "Someone knows better, has been better trained, or is perhaps more talented and wise. Therefore, he can give healing to the one who stands beneath him in his patronage. ... To be healed appears to be to find a wiser one who, by his arts and learning, will succeed. (Song.3.III.2) We are literally believing in separation to heal us. How could this succeed?

ACIM tells us that there can be an appearance of success, but that it will be temporary and limited to the body's appearance. Since the cause of the sickness has not been healed another sickness will reappear again and again in different forms. Separation can never truly heal us. "True healing cannot come from inequality assumed and then accepted as the truth, and used to help restore the wounded and to calm the mind that suffers from the agony of doubt." (Song.3.III.3)

Through ACIM we are learning that healing is an inherent ability possessed by everyone. In many the ability is lying dormant and exists only as a potential. However developing that potential is our true aim and purpose. "Healing is the one ability which everyone can develop and must develop if he is to be healed." (OrEd.Tx.7.41) We all want that ability to be developed, and that is one of the primary purposes of the Community Miracles Center.
