► Shortly before 10 a.m., the police said Munich: "In the area of Karolinenplatz, police forces fired shots at a suspicious person, the person was hit."
Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (67, CSU) said at noon that the attacker had fired a series of shots. Only then did the police return fire and were able to stop him. The perpetrator died of his serious injuries.
