Is the American government a Ponzi scheme?

The Constitution's vision was for a moral, involved population actively participating in self-governance. The founders believed in local self-governance, expecting elected congressmen to spend only a few months in Washington DC and then return to live under the laws they passed.

Today, however, Washington DC is rife with fraud and self-enrichment schemes. Politicians pass laws and enrich themselves, turning the government into what some might call a Ponzi scheme.

They arrive poor and leave wealthy, all while taking more money from the citizens.
