Island Iž, located in the Zadar Archipelago of Croatia, is a serene and less-touristy destination that offers a glimpse into traditional Croatian island life.

You can reach Iž from Zadar by car ferry or catamaran. The car ferry operates from Zadar's Gaženica port to Bršanj on Iž, while the catamaran connects Zadar's old town directly to Mali Iž and Veli Iž, continuing to Rava Island.
Traditionally, Iž's economy was based on agriculture and fishing, but it's also known for pottery, a craft that has been recognized as part of Croatia's protected intangible cultural heritage. Today, tourism, particularly eco-tourism and sailing, is growing. Activities include exploring the island's natural beauty, visiting historical sites, and enjoying local cuisine.
The island hosts the "Iz Festival" at the end of July, where the highlight is the election of the "King of Iž," a tradition with historical roots. While there are no large hotels, Iž offers numerous apartments and houses for rent, ideal for those looking for a more authentic experience.The island's landscape varies from macchia in the south-west, richer in flora, to the north-east with different geological formations. Its highest point, Korinjak, offers panoramic views of the surrounding islands and sea.
