2024 Presidential Debate: Part Duex

ABC News has unveiled the rules for the upcoming "Kamala Harris and Donald Trump – ABC News Presidential Debate," scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 9:00 p.m. EDT. The debate will be broadcast live on ABC and streamed on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu. It will also be available for simulcast. The event will take place at the National Constitution Center.

Moderators for the debate will be "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have met the qualifications to participate and agreed to the following debate rules:

- The debate will last 90 minutes with two commercial breaks. (gotta pay da bills}
- Only David Muir and Linsey Davis will ask questions. (sure!!)
- A virtual coin flip on Sept. 3 determined podium placement and closing statement order. Trump won the coin toss, choosing to deliver the final closing statement, while Harris selected the right podium (stage left.. far far left).
- Candidates will be introduced by the moderators and enter from opposite sides of the stage, with the incumbent party introduced first.
- There will be no opening statements; each candidate will have two minutes for closing statements.
- Both candidates will stand behind podiums throughout the debate. (one may kneel)
- No props or prewritten notes are allowed onstage. (that you know of)
- Topics or questions will not be shared with campaigns ahead of time. (sure)
- Each candidate will have a pen, a pad of paper, and a bottle of water. (spare condoms and a bullet proof vest)
- Candidates will have two minutes to answer questions, two minutes for rebuttals, and an additional minute for follow-ups or clarifications. (or just make crap up)
- Microphones will be live only when it is the candidate’s turn to speak. (that worked out good last time)
- Candidates will not be allowed to ask questions of each other. (because we have to make an idiot sound smrt)
- Campaign staff may not interact with candidates during commercial breaks.
- Moderators will enforce timing rules and promote a respectful discussion. (you have to have respect for this to work)
- There will be no live audience. (Just like some voters, nothing new here..)
