'Bombs in the Building': Trump's Interview on 9/11/01 (The First Truther)

NYC 9/11/24 -- 23 years ago, Donald Trump became one of the first prominent voices to question the official narrative of the 9/11 attacks. Speaking to WWOR/UPN 9 News on the morning of September 11, 2001, Trump described witnessing a jetliner crash into the World Trade Center from his office. He expressed disbelief at the level of destruction, citing the unique structure of the buildings, which were built with steel on the outside—something he said made them extremely strong.

"This was an unbelievably powerful building. If you know anything about structure, this was one of the first buildings built with steel on the outside. The reason the World Trade Center had such narrow windows was because between every window, there was steel. Heavy steel. When I first saw the hole in the steel, I couldn’t believe it. You remember how narrow the windows were, right? I thought, how could a plane—whether it was a 767, 747, whatever—possibly go through this steel?

I happen to believe it wasn’t just the planes. There had to be bombs that exploded almost simultaneously, because I just can't imagine anything being able to go through that wall. Most buildings are built with the steel on the inside, around the elevator shaft. This one was built with the steel on the outside—the strongest structure you can have. And yet, it went through like a can of soup."

Trump emphasized that the planes appeared to be moving at very high speeds, coming down into the buildings and causing more destruction than just fuel would explain. He reflected on how the country would be forever changed by the event, adding, "This country is different today, and it’s going to be different for many years to come."

Trump ended his remarks with: "Never forget."
