This is happeneing, you sell a car for scrap or junk, thinking the car will never be back on the road, the car gets rebuilt and sold to an immigrant, the title is still in your name cause you figured it would never be on the road again, but now that it is, when the illegal crashes and causes bodily injury, property damage or even death, the insurance and state will come back on you as the car is still in your name, you might be held to pay for all the damages the illegal driver caused, this happened to a woman that did this very thing, the illegal ran into my wife, destroyed her car and the lady that sold the car the illegal was driving as scrap, she got hit with a $7,800 bill to cover the damages, even though she thought the car had been crushed at the scrap yard and never had another thought about it, until she got the call from the police about that care she sold for scrap and never had the title taken out of her name.
