GOWDY: “ — was on the brink of unprecedented peace on the Middle East, so what happened? Joining us is former Director of National Intelligence, John Lee Ratcliffe. Director, I want you to take us on a tour of the globe, but there was a shooting in West Palm Beach, at one of President Trump’s properties, you probably have been at that property, details are very, very limited at this point, but just want to get your initial reaction, even though the questions outpace the answers at this point.”
RATCLIFFE: “Well, my reaction, I think, is unfortunately what most Americans would be, which is, I’m not shocked. Why would anybody be shocked at this point in time if they heard that there were shots fired in the vicinity of President Trump, given what has happened, you know, given unprecedented legal cases, indictments against him, legal theories that have never been pursued? And when there was an actual assassination attempt against him, it was minimized by his political opponents. And when Kamala Harris on the stage last week at the debate demonized him and labeled him a threat to democracy, you know, why would any of us be surprised that there continued to be potential threats on his safety and on his life like there have been in the past?”
