Gowdy Says Trump Wrong For Using "SpyGate"; FBI Doing Job Americans Want Done

Gowdy prefaced this by acknowledging that the President is frustrated at all the people and former intel leaders trashing him now, before saying it’s certainly fair to ask questions about the FBI’s actions.

However, he continued, “it was President Trump himself who said… ‘I didn’t collude with Russia but if anyone connected with my campaign did, I want the FBI to find that out.’ It looks to me like the FBI was doing what President Trump said, ‘I want you to do, find it out.'”

Gowdy made it clear Trump is not the “target” here, saying, “I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.”

MacCallum asked the outgoing congressman if the President’s “SpyGate” tweets are problematic.

Gowdy said Trump should “take advantage” of the legal minds around him, advising him to “rely on his lawyers and his comms folks.”
