I’m Sylvie Lariviere-Traub, and I’m reaching out to offer my first book for pre-sale to help cover the expenses of self-publishing.

I wish to share with you the journey behind my first book, The Silent Echo of My Childhood. This memoir is more than just a personal story—it’s a powerful testament to resilience, the strength of the human spirit, and the quest for justice.

At twelve years old, my life took a harrowing turn. Abandoned by my alcoholic father and left to navigate the world alone when my mother fell ill, I was thrust into the unforgiving Canadian foster care system. My desperate escape from this system only led me to the confines of juvenile institutions that resembled prisons more than places of care. Under the Quebec Child Protection Services, I was treated more like a prisoner than under the care of the Child Protection Services, an experience shared by many children between 1950 and 1970.

In 2019, the largest lawsuit in Canadian history was approved by the Quebec Superior Court, allowing survivors like me to seek justice against a government that knew about the abuses but chose to turn a blind eye.

After years of healing and reflection, I’ve poured my heart into writing The Silent Echo of My Childhood. This book is my way of shining a light on the dark corners of a system that failed so many. It’s a story of survival, finding strength in the face of overwhelming odds, and the universal search for belonging and peace.

I’m seeking your support through this crowdfunding campaign to bring my memoir to life. The manuscript is in the editing process. The funds raised will go toward the final stages of editing, cover design, printing, and marketing to ensure this story reaches as many people as possible. But more than that, your support will help amplify the voices of those who suffered in silence for far too long.

In addition to The Silent Echo of My Childhood, I’m also planning to write two more books: a self-help guide on coping with the profound loss of a soulmate, and a dystopian novel originally conceived as a film that evolved into a book after the passing of my husband. This campaign marks the beginning of my journey as an author, and I’m excited to share these stories with the world.
