As my life was being violently snuffed out and my body torn asunder, my mother, Eleanor Stone, was across town, raising a glass to her adopted daughter Ashley's unremarkable performance on the SATs.
In a twisted attempt at a final phone call, the killer forced me to call Eleanor.
My tongue had been cut out, and I could only whimper in pain, unable to speak.
Eleanor, a seasoned forensic pathologist, didn’t notice anything unusual.
