Human Smuggler Flees to Mexico After Illegal Immigrants Bail from SUV

In a dramatic high-speed chase through Webb County, Texas, a human smuggler attempted to evade DPS Troopers by leading them on a dangerous pursuit. The smuggler, driving an SUV, allowed multiple illegal immigrants to bail out of the moving vehicle during the chase, one of whom suffered head injuries as a result. Despite Troopers’ efforts to apprehend the suspect, the driver ultimately drove into the Rio Grande River and escaped by swimming to Mexico.

Bodycam footage shows the intense pursuit, and one immigrant was referred to U.S. Border Patrol for processing. The chase is part of the ongoing struggle to curb human smuggling at the U.S.-Mexico border.
