North Myrtle Beach fires insubordinate City Manager

Today, the North Myrtle Beach City Council made the decision to place Mike Mahaney, the North Myrtle Beach City Manager, on administrative leave with pay.

The council also approved a notice of removal for Mahaney before placing him on leave. That resolution states the council “expressed their desire that the city exercise its right to end the city’s employment relationship with North Myrtle Beach City Manager Mike Mahaney.”

The council sanctioned a notice of termination for Mahaney and subsequently placed him on administrative leave. The resolution explicitly articulates the council’s wish for the city to exercise its authority in terminating City Manager Mike Mahaney’s employment.
