Run a home server with Umbrel

Running a VPN on Umbrel:

if you already have Tailscale working to access your Umbrel remotely all you need to do is:

1. Open an Umbrel terminal for app Tailscale and enter:

tailscale set --advertise-exit-node --exit-node-allow-lan-access

2. Connect to http://login.tailscale.com from your personal device and “edit route setting” for your Umbrel, enable “use as exit node” and save.

That’s it! Next time you connect your Tailscale client from anywhere in the world, you will be able to select your Umbrel as your exit node and access the internet just as if you were sitting on your home network.
