NYPD OIS involving Derell Mickles

Derell Mickles, 37, can be seen jumping the turnstile at the Sutter Avenue subway station. Officers follow Mickles and escort him out of the station, the video shows.

Mickles returns to the subway station and dodges the subway fare a second time, walking through a metal gate at the station. Police then follow Mickles for the second time.

Mickles is holding a knife in several portions of the video. At one point, he says, “You’re going to make me kill you if you don’t leave me the [expletive] alone.”

Officers tell Mickles to drop the knife, to which he responds, “I am dropping nothing; shoot me,” the video shows.
