Inerrancy, Definitions and Mythohistory

Over the late Nineteenth and Twentieth Century, liberalism continued chipping away at inerrancy and the Bible’s reliability. In 1978, the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy was drafted by nearly 300 noted evangelical scholars. In January of 2018, it came to public attention that although the professors and staff at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago affirmed their belief in inerrancy in writing, it turned out they had their own definition of inerrancy, which wasn’t inerrant. Several in leadership at Moody resigned, and the school adopted the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. Again, leading scholars are attempting to redefine inerrancy by including something called mythohistory.
