Details:
FLORIDA PYTHON CHALLENGE CROWNS GRAND PRIZE WINNER _ Ronald Kiger has been announced as the grand prize winner of the Florida Python Challenge, successfully removing 20 Burmese pythons from the Everglades. Kiger’s efforts earned him a $10,000 prize in a contest aimed at raising awareness about the ecological threats posed by the invasive snakes.
… Over 800 participants from 33 states and Canada took part in this year’s challenge, collectively removing 195 pythons within a 10-day period. Donna Kalil came in close second, catching 19 pythons and winning $2,500.
HEALTH JOURNEY:
A group of scientists say their research shows that you need a vacation – and your life may depend on it. The team, from Australia’s Edith Cowan University, found that travel tends to place us outdoors in fresher air and sunlight. It requires us to walk and do other exercise more than usual, which typically prevents us from overeating, and exhausts us in a way that makes sleep quality increase. In addition, exposure to unfamiliar streets, strange customs, and a new environment of microorganisms can boost your immune system, “improving “the body’s ability to perceive and defend itself against external threats; put simply, the self-defence system becomes more resilient”. I found this to be positive, but also ironic coming from the country of Australia that had some of the strictest lock down policies during Covid.
