Consensus fabrication is the process by which institutions, media outlets, or influential figures create a false or misleading narrative and then push it so hard that it becomes accepted as truth, regardless of the facts. It’s not just about telling a lie—it’s about manufacturing widespread agreement on that lie. The goal is to build a consensus that reinforces the narrative to the point where questioning it makes you seem out of touch or unreasonable.

This is often done by presenting the fabricated story so consistently and across so many channels that people begin to accept it simply because it’s the dominant narrative. The truth becomes secondary to the appearance of consensus. In essence, reality is shaped by how many people believe the story rather than by whether the story is actually true.

For example, if multiple news outlets, social media platforms, and public figures all push the same narrative—despite a lack of evidence—people begin to accept it as reality because it feels like everyone agrees. It becomes dangerous because it erodes critical thinking and creates a social environment where dissent or skepticism is discouraged.

In Kamala Harris’s case, consensus fabrication would be the media and fact-checkers working together to promote the idea that she worked at McDonald's, even though there’s no solid proof. The more that narrative gets repeated without challenge, the more people will start to believe it—simply because it feels like everyone else does.
