On June 16, 2024, at approximately 8:30PM, I responded to KNIGHTS INN (339 COMMERCE BLVD) in reference to a guest that left their one-year-old daughter inside of a hotel room unattended.

Upon arrival, I made contact with the front desk staff who advised that one of their guests left the hotel at approximately 7:20PM without their child, and that the guest's child was left in room 225 by themselves.

While speaking with the front desk staff, the mother of the unattended child walked into the hotel lobby and walked passed the front desk and officers on scene. The suspect, identified as Harley Crews, would not respond to or acknowledge offices on scene when he was initially addressed. Harley continued to walk away from myself and Officer Jugo, heading upstairs towards the second floor when Officer Jugo placed himself in front of her direction of travel on the stairwell. Harley then stopped on the stairwell and stated that she was walking back towards her room where her daughter was located. Harley stated that her daughter was in the room by herself, and that she had only stepped out for a moment to grab food at Arbys.
