Rappelling a Vertical Cave System in North Alabama

Take an underground journey with us as we explore this pit cave in DeKalb County, Alabama, which is over 250 feet deep with four distinct pits. Some of the old rusty bolts needed to be replaced for safety reasons. We had a great time exploring this vertical cave system. We came across a small pool that was full of cave-adapted flatworms and springtails. Many cavers don't take the time to look for the unique lifeforms found in caves. As always, do not attempt any of the feats from this video unless you have the proper training and experience.
