This is the first episode of the anthology series of The Cascade Effect. This season follows the investigation into the death of Michael Hanson at the hands of the Cascade County Sheriff's Office. Sergeant Jacob Tri encountered Michael Hanson on February 23, 2024, an encounter that lasted 89 seconds and ended with Sergeant Tri shot in the shoulder, and Michael Hanson dead on the ground.

This episode lays the foundation for the case that there was negligence and misconduct on the part of Sergeant Tri. The details of the incident are shown with much more to come.
