Joy underwent deliverance and committed herself fully to her faith, becoming deeply involved in church ministry for five years. It was during this time that she met the man who would later become her husband. They married in 1997, but the early years of their marriage were fraught with conflict. Mistrust, childhood traumas, and dominant behavior took a toll, causing Joy to inflict both physical and emotional pain on her husband.
