Vote No On Amendment 4 - "Tricked" Taxpayer Funded Abortions
In Michigan, where voters recently approved a similar amendment, the same lawyers who wrote Amendment 4 are currently suing the state to force taxpayers to fund abortions. The same thing will happen in Florida if Amendment 4 passes.
Press Release: The No on 4 campaign released a new ad, “Tricked,” to inform voters that our tax dollars could be funneled to subsidize elective abortions if Amendment 4 passes. The extreme groups bankrolling Amendment 4 are desperate to hide this consequence because they know that even Floridians who consider themselves pro-choice oppose forcing taxpayers to fund elective abortion.
Activist groups like the ACLU wrote Amendment 4 with intentionally vague language, to trick people into voting for policies that are far more radical than most Floridians support. What’s more, the extremists behind Amendment 4 even fought in court to prevent the financial impact statement – which explains to voters that Amendment 4 would open the door to taxpayer funding of abortions – from appearing on the ballot this fall. This new 30-second ad cuts through the deception and helps voters make an informed decision.
“Tricked” points out that Michigan passed a similar amendment in 2022, written and supported by the same groups that crafted Amendment 4 in Florida. At the time, Michigan voters had no idea that their own tax dollars could be used to fund abortions because the amendment language did not warn them of that possibility.
But just a few months ago, the ACLU – which drafted and defended both Michigan’s 2022 abortion amendment and Florida Amendment 4 – sued Michigan to compel the state to force all taxpayers to pay for abortions through Medicaid.
Make no mistake, the same ACLU lawyers would immediately file the same lawsuit in Florida if Amendment 4 passes. At a time when healthcare costs are high and inflation is driving up the cost of living, many taxpayers do not want their hard-earned money taken to bankroll elective abortions.
Amendment 4’s radical funders want to keep voters in the dark about their real end-game: Forcing Florida taxpayers to pay for elective abortions, even on minors whose parents do not consent.
Amendment 4 would:
Permit elective abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy, even if there are no health concerns for the mother or baby.
Permit non-physicians to determine when and if an abortion can be performed, even in late pregnancy when the health risks to the mother can be very serious.
Remove common-sense maternal health and safety regulations.
Eliminate parental consent for minors.
Amendment 4 is not what it seems. It’s far too extreme for Florida. We believe voters deserve the truth, and we will continue to shine a light on the radical agenda behind Amendment 4 so that Floridians have the facts to make the right decision.
Prevent taxpayer-funded elective abortions. Vote No on 4.
