Oopsie! Nearly got stuck in the mud, in 2WD, while parking my camper after a trip
JeepJoe1996
It had just finished raining about 4 inches of rain just before we arrived back home, so it was SOUPY as could be! It had that 'Jurassic Park Mud' as I called it, that just oozes out from below the tire tread!... I had my front driveshaft removed too since last year, so I had no 4x4 option this time lol. It was either let it sit there over nite and get a ride back to my house to keep things clean, or spin posi-traction, cover my camper up in mud, and get to drive it home to unload all my camping stuff so I could have a bed to sleep in lol... We chose the latter option!

96-98 ZJ, How to wire up power door-lock relays, to add in aftermarket keyless entry
JeepJoe1996
I show in detail exactly how to do the required relay setup inside both front doors, in order to give you the ability to use the lock & unlock functions of aftermarket remote start systems that provide the ground triggers to operate these aftermarket door lock relays... Very simple to follow along and do yourself easily!

5.2/5.9 V8 High-flow 4" Air-Intake system & 52mm Bored-out Throttle Body = Major Differance!
JeepJoe1996
Bought a super nice CNC Machined dual 52mm bored out throttle body (big improvement over the stock restrictive necked down 48mm one), then installed a beefy and huge 4" Spector brand Low-Profile Aluminum High-flow Top-hat to fit it, and then 4" Aluminum tubing & 4" High-flow ait filter & underhood Heat-shield... It REALLY opened things up, especially in the throttle response & lower RPM torque at take-off...

5.2/5.9L V8 52mm CNC Machined Bored-out Throttle Body Install Guide... 1997 5.2L V8 Grand Cherokee

Replacing the OEM 48MM restrictive stock throttle body, with a better flowing 52MM CNC Machined version instead which is much much smoother and less restrictive at flowing air...

Jeep ZJ Benifits Of Engine Braking Tested Via DIY Fully Adjustable IAC Valve
JeepJoe1996
1997 5.2 V8 Grand Cherokee
Testing my home built I.A.C. controller I made, where I can fully adjust and fine-tune the Idle-Air Control Valve open or closed on the fly in real-time...
Testing the benefits of 'Engine Braking' aka holding-back down hills, via manually shutting the IAC valve all the way and letting it hold back super good down hills now (more like a manual transmission would) which will have tremendous benefits saving your brakes (keeping the heat out if them) when going down long hills and mountains, especially when towing a small camper!!

Grand Cherokee Billet Grill Insert Install (1996-1998 ZJ)
JeepJoe1996
$15 DIY fake Billet Grill inserts I made for my 1997 Grand Cherokee... It took nearly 18 feet of the cheap-o chrome door edge trim molding stuff to do this, at a cost of $15 from Amazon...
I originally did this clear back in 2009 on this same exact Jeep LOL, decided after seeing a old picture of my Jeep with the chrome Grill in it back then, that I'd do it again for a while lol

ZJ 5.2/5.9 V8 Billet Aluminum Upgraded Power-Steering Bracket
JeepJoe1996
1997 5.2L V8...
Replacing the power steering pump mounting bracket with the Billet aluminum one I bought from ebay... Now I won't have to worry about this one ever shattering into 4 peices like my original cast aluminum factory one did and leave me stranded LOL...
$30 upgrade/fix!

High-Idle Mod Using The Cruise Control (Great For Winching Applications) For XJ's & ZJ'S all years!
JeepJoe1996
Simple mod, that takes a cruise control servo (preferably from a parts Jeep) and allows you to raise and hold the idle rpms of the Jeep at a steady RPM while you are winching...
This was my first test of the idea, and was only possible after studying the systems wiring diagram from the Service Mauals, and carefully testing how things work in a working cruise control system via a led test light and probing into the oem wiring while driving...
Once I understood how the system worked, I was able to get a cruise control servo & wire harness pig-tail from a 1996 ZJ 4.0 parts Jeep to test my idea and figure out the wiring setup to make it function...
My final goal is to use the rear window wiper switch as the controls in the long run...
Cut its 4-pin connector off the back of the switch, and wire it to a ground source so the switches & button presses will all be grounded outputs to do what I need them to do...
It also has a key-on 12v power source there at that switch too...
I need 3 wires...
12v + with the Key-on...
Ground with the wiper switch in the WIPE position...
Ground momentary output when the rear washer button is momentarily touched. .
That's it!...
Then simply slide the switch to the ON position, and tap the WASH button to set the RPMs where you want them... Then slide the switch to the OFF position to go back to a normal idle again...

Jeep Grand Cherokee, Power Mirror Repair Stuck Motors (1996-1998 ZJ's)
JeepJoe1996
Showing how to safely take the power mirror completely apart, to get iniside it to the two seized up, and stuck electric motors inside it; to free them back up and put the mirror back into fully-functional working order once again!... These are the really high dollar top trim level mirror too that were worth saving and giving a new lease on life... These are Power/Heated/Painted/Memory/Auto-Dimming mirrors side view mirrors... The Memory & Auto-dimming features are what make these next to impossible to find true new matching replacement ones in the aftermarket realm... So repairing what you 5 got is by far the best optiin!
