The automatic flip hook (aka automatic flipping #hook) is a very old design that has been around for well over a century. One can safely say it predates the circle hook. However, most American #fishermen are unaware of this #fishing hook. You can't find it at #Walmart #Dicks or other box stores. Major hook manufacturers like @MustadFishing and @EagleClawFishing just don't have them readily available. Ken did find this hook easily on #Temu as a nail hook and #Amazon has limited quantities of the bigger sized hooks...mostly nail hooks as well. Generally speaking, this is a great #livebait hook where you cannot easily find a circle hook of the same size. This DIY hook design is great to use with the #aberdeen hook.
