BREAKING: Why No More Faith-Based Forums for Queensland's LNP Candidates?

This footage from a church-initiated candidates forum at Harvest Point Church Beaudesert most likely sparked the new directive from LNP Queensland instructing its candidates not to attend faith-based candidates forums.

In my experience, faith-based candidates forums rarely (if ever) are attended by ALP or Greens candidates. Now the LNP are also likely to be no-shows! Incredible.

Senator Malcolm Roberts yesterday posted on social media:

“LNP Queensland issued instruction to candidates to not attend faith-based forums. LNP candidates in Keppel, Rocky, Mackay had accepted invitations to attend events, then churches received late notification that LNP candidates would not attend. LNP admin confirmed instruction.” (6 October 2024)

He further indicated, in response to my comment: “[The directive] follows an LNP candidate’s performance in a church forum in Scenic Rim electorate.”

Does this directive by LNP Queensland signal the end of faith-based candidate forums, and what does it say of our major parties if they won’t attend engage with the community at these town hall style meetings? What does this directive say about the major parties’ accountability with voters, commitment to community consultation, and the state of representative democracy in Australia generally?

While the Scenic Rim candidates forum at Harvest Point Church commendably addressed a wide range of critical voter issues, the footage I have provided is in relation to the LNP’s record during peak medical tyranny purportedly in response to Covid-19. Those dark years will go down in history as being the biggest assault on individual freedom and Christian conscience Australians have ever experienced.

Why does the LNP have such difficulty defending their record during the peak Covid insanity, and particularly the actions of LNP Prime Minister at the time, Scott Morrison? Why is the federal Opposition not loudly calling for a Royal Commission (with appropriate terms of reference) into human rights abuses by the federal and state governments during Covid?

In April 2022 I attended a large faith-based candidates forum on the Gold Coast organised by the Australian Christian Lobby. Incredibly, at a time when unconscionable and unlawful Covid ‘vaccine’ mandates had barred hundreds of thousands of Australians from employment, it took me crying out from the back of the auditorium to bring attention to our plight. This dark time in our nation’s history must not be minimised or ignored and swept under the rug.

Moving forward, churches and Christians must urgently step up into their responsibility to be prophetic voices to government, and to hold our elected representatives accountable to standards of righteousness and truth. We’re losing our nation to dark forces and diabolical agendas and the pulpit is responsible.
