2025 TQA Ranch Horse Sale Video
How to be a Ranch Hand
Another homework assignment for school!
We were supposed to make a video for a horse sale. Unfortunately, the horses kept changing on me, and the footage I had gotten throughout the term, I was never able to complete.
So, I ended up just using my horse (no, he's not for sale...). Anywho, it's a bad sale video, and I really wasn't able to hit all the things I was supposed to include / do with my video. But hey, you work with what you got, and the time that you got.
I hope you enjoy!

Everything to Know About the Bowline Knot
How to be a Ranch Hand
In this video I go over the bowline knot. This knot is not only useful for horsemen, but also anyone wanting to work on a ranch; and it has many applications.
I plan on doing some more knot videos in the future (probably not as long as this video, lol)

Howdy guys, as some of you may know, I'm going to school, and got a bunch of video homework to do! So I'm posting it to my channel.
This video is for the intro to colt starting class, and specifically on ground work. In it, I go over a basic introduction explaining the organization "Training Quality Assurance" used at the college. And then rate my horse using the TQA standards. This is essentially setting up the basic foundation for a horse, based on the industry standards.

Part 1 of a video series talking about some of the strategies I use for fly mitigation for my horses.

Fly mitigation for horses (part 2): using fly spray
How to be a Ranch Hand
Permethrin is the main ingredient in most fly sprays. You can find it in most feed stores if you’d like to make your own homemade spray and save some money.
Main points:
1) Brush out the dirt first
2) Don’t spray on wounds, head, or face
3) Let your horse know what’s coming; start from the hoof and work your way up
4) Get the spots he can’t reach with his tail real good (belly, chest, legs)
5) If your horse is prone to roll after getting wet, let it dry before releasing him

Fly Mitigation for Horses (part 3)
How to be a Ranch Hand
Fall’s right around the corner, so the flys are starting to die off. But I thought I’d talk about the last 2 methods (that I think are the best) for helping our four legged friends deal with flys.
The first is giving em a buddy with a natural fly swatter (another horse).
And the second is taking the time to pickup those prairie apples.
Also, one of the first jobs you might get on a ranch, might just be picking up poop. Don’t turn up your nose if your given that opportunity and want to have a job in agriculture. It could be a stepping stone.
Hope this helps, God bless!

My bestest little horse in the whole world, Sir Winston, got to go for a ride today. He did really good. Finally warmed up enough here in Antarctica that the footing wasn’t to bad, lol
