The story leaps forward 21 years after the disappearance of the Spirit of Fire, and the war against the Covenant has reached a critical point. In the first mission of Halo: Reach, we land on the UNSC military world of Reach, a fortress planet vital to humanity’s defense. Strange reports have been coming in from the frontier, and when a key relay station goes dark, suspicions rise. Initially feared to be the work of rebels, troopers are dispatched to investigate—but they vanish without a trace.

With communication cut off and no answers, command deploys Noble Team, an elite Spartan squad, to assess the situation. Led by the battle-hardened Carter, Noble Team is joined by a new member, Noble 6—the character we take control of. What begins as a routine mission quickly escalates into a dire revelation: Covenant forces have infiltrated the frontier, operating in secret. As Noble Team moves in to neutralize the alien threat, they find the relay station damaged and overrun, making it clear that the rest of the planet is completely unaware of the invasion unfolding right on their doorstep.

Our objective is to secure the area, eliminate all Covenant forces, and bring the relay station back online. This mission sets the stage for the larger battle to come as the Covenant’s full invasion of Reach begins. The stakes are high, and Noble Team’s discovery marks the beginning of a desperate fight for survival.
