Is it me, or do you feel we are inching closer to medical instability? I just read that many blood pressure readings in medical settings are wrong. Should we correct this error, or continue overprescribing blood pressure medications? On Tuesday from 3-4PM Central Time, we will discuss a new paper in which a school professor has developed Smartphone apps that will detect pupillary (eye pupils) changes consistent with depression. We may not benefit from this AI technology, but he and the pharmaceutical industry will love it. Imagine how many trusting Americans will use these AI apps and immediately run to their doctor’s office seeking antidepressants. As if this isn’t frightening enough, we will also discuss a new article that reports that we have been grossly underdiagnosing rare genetic disorders! Not to worry, however, because researchers at two universities have discovered technology that will dramatically increase the diagnoses of genetic diseases…all centered around “repetitive DNA sequencing.” WAIT!
