A Department of Homeland Security inspector general’s report from August reveals more than $7 billion remain in emergency funding that could be used for natural disasters — even though DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said last week none was available after Hurricane Helene.

Mayorkas, told reporters following the devastation of Helene in North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) “does not have the funds” to endure more hurricanes this fall.

A Delaware judge has refused to dismiss a defamation lawsuit against sports website Deadspin over an article accusing a 9-year-old NFL fan and his family of racism because of his game-day attire.

The lawsuit was filed by California residents Raul Armenta Jr. and his wife, Shannon, on behalf of themselves and their son, Holden, who attended a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders last November.

Former New York Governor David Paterson and his stepson Anthony were attacked on New York City's Upper East Side on the night of Friday, Oct. 4 at about 8:30 pm leading to the arrest of two boys, aged 12 and 13, who have been since charged with gang assault. The two turned themselves in at a police precinct accompanied by their parents.

At least five people were involved in the attack, according to the NYPD, which did not release their names due to their status as minors. Police released photos of the assailants, which included a girl wearing purple braids. At least one of those for whom they are searching, police said, is believed to be an adult. Another minor who was wanted in the attack turned himself in but police did not charge him, saying that he was not involved.
