Day 26: Perspective.

Higher power, Grant me the wisdom to see beyond my struggles, the courage to look towards every situation with hope and purpose, and the strength to choose to view the world with an compassionate and caring attitude.

Day 26, Perspective shapes how I see the world. I have always been amazed that my view on the world is something that can change everything, without anything outside of me actually changing. My perspective is mine - mine to change.

Quick disclaimer, perspective really does not change anything in reality, but changes everything in my perception of reality. As they say, there isn't my truth and your truth, there is just the truth... how I see the truth is determined by where I stand when I look at it. Everything I say is an opinion, everything I think is a perspective. as they say "Think I might be wrong..."

When I’m stuck in my own perspective, focused only on my problems or pain, the world feels so heavy, and any solutions seems so far out of reach. This is a dark spiral that has a gravity of it's own. A black hole in the middle of my soul, and when left unchallenged, I lose my perspective and peace, and that is natural. But when I step back, actively shifting my perspective, to see things differently; new possibilities emerge. This is not easy, but it is simple. It is something I choose to improve on daily. When I attempt to adjust my perspective, my challenges don’t necessarily disappear, but they could become more manageable. Adjusting my Perspective allows me to look at life from a broader view, a different view.

In recovery, changing how I view any situation can help me find gratitude, especially in the difficult moments. It doesn't come to me naturally, but when I remind myself that my perspective is within my control, I realize I have the power to transform how I experience life. Perspective helps me approach challenges with curiosity and openness, rather than fear or frustration. It turns obstacles into opportunities for growth and makes my journey one of constant learning and evolving.

By shifting my perspective, I build resilience and navigate life’s ups and downs with greater balance, recognizing that every situation has multiple angles. This broader view helps me focus on hope and growth, turning challenges into opportunities for positive change. The biggest perspective shift I had wasn't when I was asked whether the glass was half empty or half full, and I thought I was growing when I simply became grateful that I had a glass, but when I came to the understanding that the glass is refillable... that is what I mean by a true change of perspective.

I’m grateful for the ability to choose a perspective of gratitude and possibility. My perspective is always my choice, and today I choose to see the glass as refillable, embracing the chance to reinvent myself and live my best life each day.
