#Tux seemed to understand what the deal was with birds, but didn't appreciate the issues with bees.

One of my previous dearest cats got stung by a bee in less than 10 seconds of being outdoors on a harness in the grassy area across the street from where we lived. Bee came, she swatted it, got stung, paw swelled-up quite a bit. The Internet said to pack the paw in a paste made from baking soda, which we quickly did, and it seemed to return to normal in a couple of days.

So now I try to keep cats and bees separate, as much as I can control that sort of thing -- which when you're an outdoor cat, is pretty much never. One more thing to worry about for outdoor cats, but I'm assuming (hoping?) that they learn these lessons.
